Neil Armstrong's Landing and Mylar

What does Neil Armstrong have to do with Polyester? Well, in The Fly in the Ointment, it stated that the lunar lander that he guided was wrapped in lustrous gold material (Schwarcz 164). That material was Mylar, a sheet of polyester. Mylar was also developed by DuPont in the mid 1950s. It is actually a simplified (market) name for biaxially-oriented polyethylene terephthalate (BOPET).
As exemplified by Mylar, polyester can be not only drawn in threads but also melted into superstrong flexible sheets. This can be made into emergency blankets such as this one. The advantage of making it out of Mylar is that the bag provides a vapor barrier, preventing heat loss by evaporation and convection. The surface will reduce the heat loss by radiation up to 90%.
Various other products are also made with Mylar, because of its shiny nature, such as these nails. And what about the material in audio and video tapes? Yes, those are made out of mylar too.

Hey, you have a great blog here. I know this has nothing to do with your site but I have a new blog that I've just started, its been up for a couple of days. I gave my blog a cool title which seems to attract visitors:

www.adminsupervisor.blogspot.com

Have you got any suggestions about stuff you would like to read about??? Take a look if you get the chance. I want my blog to be cutting edge...a good read. lol...your'll understand when you see it!

The other site I have is a work from home moms site. Its all about, need I say it, working from home. I think people should have the choice to build their own income instead of somebody else’s. Freedom of well being and all of that...anyway take a look see what you think.

Keep up the good work, I'll be back to visit + I'll be at any suggestions you have about my blog.
